Died after car crash in Malaya

the 28 year old under manager of a Malayan rubber plantation Mr Bernard Hathaway whose parents live at 58 Foster Rd Radford has died as the result of a car accident in Kedah North Malaya. Mr Hathaway had been in Malaya for the past 6 years . Born in Coventry Mr Hathaway was educated at Barkers Butt School and later was employed as a clerk at Coventry Railway Station.

Shortly after the war he joined the Royal Marines and served in Hong Kong for nearly 2 years. On his return from Hong Kong Mr Hathaway resumed his formed employment for a few months before signing as a Police Lieutenant with The Federation of Malaya Police in 1950.

He served for 16 months with the Police during the height of the Emergency , before joining the Henrietta Plantation Padang Seria , Kedah as under manager. He was recently given the additional appointment of deputy manager at nearby Bagan Serai Estate
